American Indian 10th graders in Minnesota scored no better on a statewide writing test when compared to last year, according to results released on Thursday.

Statewide, 81 percent of Native students passed the writing test. This was virtually unchanged from last year, when 82 percent passed.

Native students had the second highest rate of success among racial and ethnic groups after whites. Asian students closely trailed American Indians.

The Department of Children, Families and Learning issues three basic-skills tests on writing, reading and math.
