Several Washington tribal leaders are questioning the Puyallup Tribe's new per capita payments.

Thanks to a successful casino, each Puyallup tribal member will receive $2,000 a month. Other tribal leaders say this could lead to a welfare-like dependence and wonder if they will be pressured to follow.

"I am afraid of the repercussion. Why go to work? Why go to school?" John McCoy, director of governmental affairs for the Tulalip Tribes, told The Seattle Times.
