The Federal Subsistence Board has taken some recent actions.

The board rejected a proposal to classify brown and black bears as fur bearers. This would have allowed the sale of bear hides, claws and other parts.

The board approved a proposal to require some hunters to destroy sheep horns. This is aimed at increasing the harvest of village residents.

The board tabled a proposal to allow hunting of cows and bulls of the Nelchina caribou herd.
