WEDNESDAY, MAY 22, 2002 The Department of Interior has determined that Mount Graham in Arizona is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Mount Graham is considered sacred to a number of tribes, including the White Mountain Apache and the San Carlos Apache. They want it protected from a telescope project undertaken by the University of Arizona. The school has already placed telescopes on the mountain and said the listing won't affect future plans.
