Policies affect Native subsistence

Federal and state policies are changing the way Alaska Natives carry out their subsistence practices.

Different limits on when fishing can occur, for example, require Natives to spend more time on the waters. Native commercial fishing, essential for economic survival, is also limited due to competing interests for dwindling resources.
