FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2002

Arson is the cause of a fire which gutted a historic church at Tesuque Pueblo in northern New Mexico, according to investigators.

The blaze is blamed on two men who claim to be members of the American Indian Movement. The men reportedly admitted to federal agents that they started a fire because of their dislike for Catholicism.

The man allegedly lit the fire early Monday. The Pueblo had just held its celebratory feast day on Saturday.
