MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2002

An environmental group has filed suit in federal court to stop ranchers on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation from burning their grass fields.

Safe Air For Everyone contends that burning pollutes the air and puts the young and elderly at risk. It has named 62 farmers and 14 companies in the suit.

The suit covers land on the reservation and the Rathdrum Prairie.
