Tlingit pay tribute to orca

THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2002 Tlingit tribal members in Washington held a ceremony on Wednesday for an orphaned orca. Orcas are sacred in tribal lore. One story tells of an orca being created to save a Tlingit man who was kidnapped. This time, the humans are trying to save the orca. Scientists are trying to reunite the orca with its mother in Canada. Members of a Washington dance group, Kuteeya Tlingit, performed songs and dances. Get the Story:
