Even with Yucca nuclear waste a problem

MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2002

Yucca Mountain is designed to hold up to 77,000 tons of nuclear waste but environmentalists say the Nevada site still won't solve the nation's problems.

The Environmental Working Group says waste will continue to pile up at nuclear plants. Yucca Mountain will also fill up as more waste is produced.

A plant located next the Prairie Island Reservation in Minnesota will the exceed its storage space by 2007, the first in the nation projected to do so.
