Obituary: Former BIA commissioner

MONDAY, JULY 15, 2002 Robert Bennett, Commissioner of Indian Affairs during the Lyndon Johnson administration, died at a New Mexico hospital on Thursday. He was 89. Bennett was a member of the Oneida Nation. He ran the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1966-69. Get the Story:
