Bill requires Navajo-Hopi study

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 2002 The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs last week approved a bill to require a study of the effects of relocation on Navajo and Hopi communities in Arizona. A law was passed in 1974 to settle a land dispute affecting the tribes. Navajo and Hopi tribal members were required to move in some instances. The study requires the Department of Interior to spend a year analyzing the impacts of the relocation. A technical corrections bill contains the provision. Get the Story:
