Bush promises to reduce air pollution

TUESDAY, JULY 30, 2002 President Bush has submitted legislation to reduce power plant emissions. Bush said the "Clear Skies" initiative would cut down on emissions that cause smog and acid rain by 70 percent by 2018. The bill would allow energy companies to buy and trade pollution credits.
