When tribes in Arizona need help navigating the Indian health care system, they go to Michael Allison, the state's Native American liaison for the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Allison, who grew up with the Indian Health Service, joined the state a year ago to help coordinate services among the IHS, 21 tribes and three Indian health programs. He was former executive director of the Native American Community Health Center, an urban Indian program.
