THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 2002

Government prosecutors on Wednesday filed a response to a court apology by a former Bureau of Indian Affairs employee who pleaded guilty to the murders of four people.

Lloyd Larson said he was extremely sorry for the January 25 crash in New Mexico. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Fouratt said Larson was trying to blame others -- including the BIA -- for his own wrongdoing.

Larson has a record of drunk driving arrests and convictions.
