TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2002

An anti-gambling group called Casinos No! is holding a meeting to discuss Indian gaming in the state of Maine.

The group was formed in response to a proposal by the Penobscot Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe to open a casino. A state commission has been created to study the idea.

The group has invited two Connecticut officials who have fought Pequot tribes over Indian gaming, land-into-trust and federal recognition to speak at the Wednesday meeting.
