Wis. tribe a top spender on lobbying

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2002 The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe spent more than $800,000 to lobby state lawmakers. During the first 18 months of the 2001-2002 legislative session, the tribe spent $831,465. The amount was the second highest spent on lobbying expenditures. A tribal lobbyist said the money was used to fight a proposed zinc and copper mine near its reservation and to seek road improvements and pollution cleanup. Get the Story:
