Leaders of the Sokaogon Ojibwe Tribe of Wisconsin attending the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa next week.

The tribe plans to use the trip to meet with executives of BHP Billiton. The company wants to build huge zinc-copper sulfide mine near the Mole Lake Reservation.

A coalition of area tribes, local officials and environmentalists has proposed that the state buy the land where the mine would be located. Gov. Scott McCallum (R) has said he would consider it.
