Pequot 'mega' pow-wow kicks off

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2002 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut kicked of its annual Schemitzun pow-wow on Thursday. The pow-wow, also known as the Feast of Green Corn and Dance, is one of the largest in the world and offers large prizes in dancing categories. Cherokee Nation rapper, actor and record label owner Litefoot made an appearance on opening day. The pow-wow continues through Sunday. Get the Story:
