TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2002

Tribal and county officials in Washington are wondering what to do about a compost dump operating on individual Indian land.

The land is held in trust and belongs to three members of the Nooksack Tribe. But the land is not within the tribe's reservation.

Whatcom County officials say the dump is operating without a license. They plan to assert jurisdiction.
