The Bois Forte Ojibwe Tribe of Minnesota is administering a project to create an Internet database of wild rice.

The goal of the Minnesota Wild Rice Management Planning Project is to document ice production, land use and wildlife habitat. The tribe has been conducting most of the field work at 46 historically important rice lakes.

Other Ojibwe tribes are also working on wild rice projects.
