FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2002

The Tuntutuliak Tribe of Alaska recently forbade state troopers from enforcing state law in the village of Tuntutuliak.

The tribe's court and residents refused to allow the troopers to enter the village to investigate poaching claims. After a round of talks, the troopers were allowed access and a resident was cited.

Tuntutuliak is a traditional subsistence village.
