FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2002

Two small Arizona tribes saw income of tribal members rise over the past decade, thanks to gaming.

The median income for households on the Yavapai-Prescott Reservation grew from $51,000 from about $23,000. Income on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Reservation jumped to 50,000 from $18,000.

Despite the gains, the median family income for Native Americans is $26,026. The state's largest tribe, the Navajo Nation, does not allow gaming. Other tribes are larger and the impact on income is not as great.
