An Oklahoma lawmaker wants to draft a bill requiring that Oklahoma tribal members have at least 50 percent Indian blood, The Shawnee News-Star reports today.

State Rep. Wayne Pettigrew, a Republican from Edmond, doesn't want "wannabe" or "pretend" Indians to receive federal or other benefits for "real" Indians. When questioned about the legality of his proposal, he said the Supreme Court needs to rule on the issue.

Pettrigrew also wants to tax Indian casinos.
