LaDuke: Ojibwe wild rice stolen

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2002 A private corporation has patented a strain of Ojibwe wild rice, Anishinaabeg activist Winona LaDuke said. LaDuke said the Ojibwe people are in a legal battle with the corporation, which is not named by The Daily Californian, over the rice. The former Green Party vice presidential candidate said the incident shows the dangers of globalization. Get the Story:
