Supporters of expanded gaming in Nebraska on Tuesday said they planned to fight a court ruling that removed their video slot initiative from the upcoming November ballot.

Meanwhile, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stormy Dean called for a special legislative session to address the issue. He said the majority of Nebraskans are in favor of expanded gaming.

But Gov. Mike Johanns, his opponent, rejected the idea. He said Dean was pulling a political stunt.

The petition would have legalized video slot machines, opening up their use for tribes. Currently, tribes aren't allowed Class III machines like slots.
