Genealogist ignores tribal court trial

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2002 A genealogist being sued by the Yavapai-Prescott Tribe of Arizona failed to show up for a tribal court trial contesting her work last week. The tribal judge cited Lorraine Escobar in contempt of court. He then ruled in favor of the tribe, which said Escobar violated a contract to reserach the lineage of a disputed tribal member. Escobar was hired to look into Robert Rice’s blood quantum, whom the tribe says is not full blooded. Therefore, his great-grandchildren are not tribal members and not entitled to benefits including casino revenues. Get the Story:
