Santee Sioux water bill up for vote

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2002 The House today will consider a bill to study the water system for the Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska. H.R.4938 authorizes Secretary of Interior Gale Norton to spend $500,000 to determine the best way to develop a safe and adequate water treatment and distribution system. The tribe's water contains high levels of nitrates, nitrogen and coliform bacteria. Get the Story:
