Native vets offered compensation
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2002

The Canadian government is offering Native veterans $20,000 in compensation, an amount many feel is grossly understated.

Unlike other soldiers, Aboriginals were never offered benefits after they served their country. Veterans Affairs is now offering a $39 million compensation to living veterans or their spouses.

Some say they should be paid $500,000. Many have taken the government to court.
