TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2002

Problems forced workers in Kansas to take down a 5,000-pound Indian sculpture that just been placed atop the Statehouse on Monday.

Some bolts on the 22-foot "Ad Astra" didn't fit. Workers will try again today to put him back up.

The statue represents the likeness of a Kanza, or Kaw, Indian man. Betty Durkee, a tribal spokesperson, praised the figure. The Kaw Nation is currently based in Oklahoma.
