Obituary: Slater tribal college leader

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2002 Gerald D. Slater, founder of the Salish-Kootenai Tribal College in Montana, died on Monday after battling cancer. He was 59. Slater started his career in education as a school counselor. He later ran the Native American Graduate Program at Montana State University. He founded the college in the 1970s. Get the Story:
