Senator: DOI managers resist reform

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2002 Senior Department of Interior managers are resisting reform of their agency's law enforcement duties, according to Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). Grassley criticized the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management in an October 7 letter. He said the agencies are resisting recommendations of an inspector general. Norton has reorganized law enforcement duties in response to the report. But some positions are still unfilled and Grassley said the NPS and BLM hired a non-law enforcement person to oversee criminal investigators. Get the Story:
