A new exhibit in Washington, D.C., recognizes the contributions of Indian nations and African-Americans to America's fight for independence.

The Daughters of the American Revolution Museum is hosting "Forgotten Patriots: African American and American Indian Service in the Revolutionary War 1775-1783." It features a special collection of items on loan from the Oneida Nation of New York.

Brian Patterson, an Oneida clan leader, attended the exhibit opening last night. "For the past 200 years, we have been living a legacy of a forgotten people," he said, according to The Washington Times.
