Pequot Tribe elects new chairman

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2002

Voters of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut went to the polls on Sunday to elect a new set of leaders.

Michael Thomas, the incumbent treasurer, was elected chairman, beating out current vice chairman Richard A. "Skip" Hayward and two others. Richard E. Sebastian was elected secretary.

Current chairman Kenneth Reels was also re-elected but decided not to serve as chairman.
