Deja vu for Pine Ridge voters

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2002

Voters of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota went to the polls on Tuesday in a re-enactment of a primary that was held in October.

The new vote was called because an election board said the primary results could not be verified. The results of two council races were in dispute.

"It's just been chaos," the press secretary for chairman candidate Russell Means, told The Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Means is challenging incumbent John Yellow Bird Steele.
