Seneca Nation chooses new leader

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2002 Rickey L. Armstrong is the new president of the Seneca Nation of New York. Armstrong defeated Arnold N. Cooper 1,304 to 865. According to The Buffalo News, he and others elected are backers of the tribe's casino plans. The tribe's compact with the state of New York authorizes three new casinos, including two off-reservation. One facility is set to open early next year. Get the Story:
