Changes sought in 'squaw' names

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2002 A Montana county is considering new names for Squaw Creek and Squaw Nipple. A state law authorizes renaming of "squaw" place names. According to The Billings Gazette, there are a total 76 such geographic features. New names being suggested for Squaw Creek are Teapot Dome, Deer Point and Vision Point. For Squaw Creek, the suggestions are Girl Creek or Indian Arrow Creek. Get the Story:
