Vatican limits Indian deacons in Mexico

The Vatican will not reverse a five-year moratorium on new Indian deacons in Chiapas, Mexico, the Associated Press reports.

A growing number of Indians have been joining the Catholic Church as deacons. According to the AP, Mayan communities respect deacons but not priests.
