Racetrack losses blamed on tribe

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2002 An Oklahoma racetrack is blaming its financial problems on Indian gaming. The Blue Ribbon Downs lost a $750,000 last year and more than $1 million the year before, The Daily Oklahoman reported. The facility said it lost money after the Choctaw Nation started an off-track wagering parlor. State Rep. Wayne Pettigrew wants to end the tribal monopoly on Class II, or bingo-like, gaming by allowing race tracks to have the games. Get the Story:
