The Minnesota Indian Women's Sexual Assault Coalition was created this past fall to combat high rates of domestic violence against Native women.

Almost all of the state's 11 tribes are taking part in the coalition. The group offers training, support educational and outreach programs.

The coalition is one of several in the nation dedicated to stopping violence against Native women. According to federal studies, Native women have the highest rate of violence than any other racial or ethnic group.
