Members of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota are considering a class action suit to stop their tribe from using a trust fund to pay off $31 million in debt.

Led by former chairman Vernon Ashley a group called Lakes of the Brave is working on a legal action against the tribe. Ashley told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader that tribal leaders want to use $1.3 million in annual interest from a $27 million trust fund to pay off the debt.

The group also wants the tribe put into receivership while its financial affairs are cleaned up.
