Landrieu win gives Senate 51-49 split

MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2002 Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana cruised to re-election on Saturday, her 52 percent to 48 percent win indicative of the party-line split her victory leaves the Senate in. Landrieu was targeted by the Republican Party and President Bush for defeat. They unleashed a string of attack ads and Bush appeared with challenger Suzanne Haik Terrell on several campaign stops. The race was the last to be resolved. The GOP still controls the Senate with 51 seats to the 48 controlled by the Democrats and one independent. Get the Story:
