Attendees of a state governor's conference were warned about the growing Indian gaming industry on Wednesday.

A gaming expert told the 19th annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism that California tribal casinos make $5 billion a year. Nevada's casinos currently bring in $10 billion.

"California Indian gaming likely will grow to exceed Nevada in the next 10 years," Bill Eadington of the University of Nevada said, according to the Associated Press.

A casino executive said fighting the growth of Indian gaming is "futile." James Baum, director of development for Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., suggested the casino industry develop partnerships with tribes.
