WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2002 Residents of a Yup'ik village in Alaska are going through some hard times due to a fire that destroyed the main store and post office, The Anchorage Daily News reports. The general store in St. Michael was the primary source of goods, food and other items. There are other stores in the area but they are much smaller. The fire at the post office destroyed incoming and outgoing Christmas gifts for residents. The Alaska National Guard will help out today with an Operation Santa Claus to bring gifts, clothing and books for village children. Get the Story:
