Field narrowed in Leech Lake election

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2002 A run-off will be held in February 2003 to determine the new chairman of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe of Minnesota. Deanna L. "Dee" Fairbanks and Peter D. White will face other after receiving the most votes in Tuesday's primary. The election was held because Eli Hunt was recalled as chairman. He tied his ouster to heavy gang activity on the reservation. Get the Story:
