Top Metis leader in Canada ousted from post

MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 2003 The Metis National Council of Canada suspended president Gerald Morin because he would not resign from his post over assault charges he is facing. Morin is set to appear in court but the media has reported few details of the alleged assault of a woman. Audrey Poitras, chief of the Metis Nation of Alberta, was named interim president of the council. Get the Story:
