The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma says 227 acre of land it recently purchased in New York falls in its land claim area.

The tribe disputed a letter by acting Assistant Secretary Aurene Martin that said the tribe does not have authority over the land. But local officials and Rep. Sherwood L. Boehlert (R) say the letter proves that the tribe can't open a Class II facility without state approval.
