WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2003 The Reverend Al Sharpton announced his 2004 run for president on Tuesday, the first American-American to declare his candidacy. Sharpton, an activist known for controversial past, has run for office several times but has never been elected. He is the sixth Democrat to officially join the running. Get the Story:
