Bill provides tax exemption to Eskimo whalers

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2003 The Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday approved a measure to allow Eskimo whalers in Alaska to claim tax exemptions on whale hunts. The deduction, up to $10,000, applies to he costs of outfitting boats and crews. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) sponsored the bill, which her father, Gov. Frank Murkowski, tried to pass when he was in the Senate. Get the Story:
