Kiowa officials targeted in recall petition

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2003 J.T. Goombi, former chairman of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, has recalled all eight members of the tribe's business committee. Goombi said the committee, which is fractured by political disputes, hasn't done anything. That probably means his petition won't be acted upon, since the committee has only met once in seven months. Separately, the Bureau of Indian Affairs is threatening to take control of the tribe's programs. Get the Story:
