A provision of the 2003 omnibus appropriations act revives a deal to buyout property owners near the Florida Everglades.

Known as the 8.5 Square Mile Area, the bill would reduce it to about half the size. The Miccosukee Tribe owns land in the area although it is not clear from press accounts whether the tribe will be forced to sell.
